It’s not often that we have a Valentine’s Day wedding to cater, but Valentine’s Day weddings are popular across the country, even in 2014.
In McDowell County, North Carolina nine couples were married at the courthouse during a Valentine’s Day “wedding extravaganza hosted by the Register of Deeds.”
In New York City three couples won a contest to be married at the Empire State Building on Valentine’s Day! They had a backdrop of “4,000 red, pink and white roses on the 86th-floor Observation Deck.”
In Janesville Wisconsin, the Rock County Courthouse hosted a Valentine’s Day group wedding, giving security guards a new record of checking 22 wedding rings through the metal detector.
In Cleveland Ohio, for the sixth year in a row, the Cleveland Municipal Court married couples on Valentine’s Day in “rapid-fire consecutive ceremonies” at the foot of the Grand Staircase in the Skylight Concourse. This year, in 2014, almost sixty couples were married there. [Fun Valentine’s Day Wedding Slide Show at the Tower City wedding fest.]
In Charlotte, North Carolina, with the snow and ice storm, the Valentines’ Day weddings that were set for Friday February 14, 2014 were cancelled. Usually about 60 couples get married at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse on those years when February 14 falls on a Monday or a Friday. Weddings are only scheduled at the courthouse on Mondays or Fridays.
