Catering By Design was founded in the year 2000 by executive chef Greg Lewis. At the time, he owned Errico’s, a popular Italian restaurant in Cary, and was constantly getting requests for event catering.
Catering was a natural fit for the restaurateur and by the end of its first decade in business, Catering By Design was a well-known and respected catering company, involved with political events, historic town celebrations, schools, sporting events and many, many weddings, corporate events and social gatherings.
In 2012, Catering By Design was honored with the Service Excellence Pinnacle Award, presented by the Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. We don’t just say we’re one of the leading Raleigh catering companies. We’ve got the hardware to prove it!
In 2013, Catering By Design was purchased by a new owner, Phillip Lin, who is dedicated to maintaining, and even improving, the catering company’s commitment to impeccable service and incredible food. Phillip’s backed by the same amazing staff our patrons have come to know and love. His background in restaurants, services and technology has Catering by Design poised to exceed our already stellar record. We can’t wait to see what the next 20 years bring!

An essential part of our ability to deliver quality food and exceptional service is our teamwork – built by a culture of respect, kindness and cooperation. This is at the core of who we are. It was initiated by our founder, and has successfully been transferred to each of us. We train our team members in a way that ensures the continuity of our culture. New members work side by side with seasoned team members to learn the Catering By Design way. Teamwork is so much a part of how we do business that we don’t even think about it. It’s just the way we are.
Turnover at Catering By Design is very low. Many staff members have worked together for over ten years. Any other work environment just isn’t an option. Our customers really appreciate that continuity, and the consistency of our services. Why do we have such low turnover? It’s because we genuinely care about the well-being of our team members.
